What is the Silver Bullet setup?

A one-hour window per session where a Fair Value Gap forming in the direction of bias is taken. Why time-based windows work at all, and what evidence exists.

What it is

The Silver Bullet is a time-boxed setup: within a specific one-hour window each session, a Fair Value Gap that forms in the direction of higher-timeframe bias is taken as an entry. The defining feature is not the pattern but the clock — outside the window, the same pattern is ignored.

Why a time window is not arbitrary

Volume and volatility in gold are not evenly distributed. The hour after a major session open behaves differently from mid-afternoon, and restricting a setup to windows where participation is highest is a defensible filter. It also solves a real behavioural problem: it stops you trading all day.

What to be careful about

There is no published, independently verified evidence that any particular hour produces a specific win rate. The specific windows are convention within the community rather than measured results. Treat them as a discipline device with a plausible microstructure rationale, not as a proven edge.

How to test it yourself

Log every setup inside the window and every equivalent setup outside it, over at least fifty occurrences, and compare expectancy rather than win rate. If the window has value, expectancy inside it should exceed expectancy outside it by more than the noise in your sample. That is a test anyone can run and almost nobody does.
